[Three years? What? Kerra looks genuinely bewildered by the statement, shaking her head.]
...no the only Republic offensive against any Sith enclave I'm aware of in the last decade is my own, against Daimon and Odion in the Grumani sector. It's been twenty years at least since the Republic pulled the hyperspace beacons down and blocked nearly all transit into and out of the Outer Rim. There's no way the Republic attacked Drumond Kaas that recently.
[Pursing her lips...she considers the strange implications of that. And...]
Good. Trust me when I say what I can and can't do for the moment, that's all I ask. Afterwards, we can get drinks and I'll explain in detail.
[she draws a gun and aims it at a large cluster of tentacles, firing off a shot from the heavy blaster that cuts off a knot of vines from the main body.]
That should keep the plant from heading up here. I'm thinking we move a few roofs over, see what that plaza over there looks like. Sound good?
[He quietly obeys, nearly holding his breath to make sure they were caught. He'd prefer they weren't seen at all, even though escape would be a simple task.
The guards stroll by, not noticing the two of them. When they finally disappear around another corner, he breathes out.]
That was close. The last thing we want is to deal with this planet's law system.
[Kerra nods, letting him go and releasing the hold she has over their forms in the Force. Breathing out...]
Sorry. Not to manhandle you or anything. I can bend light away from me and people who are close. It seemed like the best solution. Since, Yeah. We don't want to make enemies out of our hosts.
[Mordred glanced up-- and realized she probably did owe Kerra an explanation. If they were to be making Chroma together, they needed to know shit.]
Mana. Magical energy, I guess. I'm no mage, so I don't get all of it.
[A shrug. She'd been around enough mages both during life and as a Servant to know that they were largely a strange lot. It was better to keep some distance.]
I can only tell because... I'm not as human as I look, okay? Part of my situation back home is that I was summoned to that era and I need to be tied to someone strong to stay there. If that person dies, I go away-- and that's just how it is.
[She tilted her head.]
...Yanno, it's weird when it's explained like that. But, my Master isn't here-- and I'm not having any problems, so there's gotta be something weird about this place that's making the plants go goofy.
[That. Explains a lot. Kerra's eyes narrow slightly as she focuses on Mordred again. She isn't human, obviously...so, her essence in the Force is different. Red, wild, but not Dark. It's apparent that she isn't a Force Sensitive individual...]
You're a manifestation of someone who's time passed?
[She has heard of this, too. Akkadia had tried to summon up the dead to kill her with Sith Alchemy. And then there were the stories of Revan and Exar Kun, as well as the vengeful spirits Nomi Sunrider had called forth on Yavin Four. These were intimately interwoven into the lore of the Jedi...but...]
Did not know that was possible without a hell of a lot of power...
[Mordred grinned, glad to see the dawning understanding in Kerra's eyes. The explanation was going far easier than she had expected.]
It's a wish granting treasure that pops up every few generations or so... I think. Anyway, it provides enough power for mages to summon seven of us in a low key ritual, and then we're supposed to fight it out for the winner. This time though, something happened... and there's gotta be like fifteen of us. It's crazy.
Some sort of cup brought back spirits. To fight for...what purpose?
[She pauses, holding up a hand.]
And just...for the record, I believe you. Even if I sound like I don't. I can sense that you're not wholly human. You have a unique feeling in the Force.
[Spoken as if it explained anything-- because, to Mordred, it's holiness was self-evident in it's power and it's mystery. Having been on quests seeking it out in her own era, she didn't deny that she longed for it for more than just her personal reasons.
Having a sense of completion, no matter what it was, would mean a lot to her and her misspent life.]
We're supposed to fight for the Grail itself, because it's supposed to grant any wish. But, it can only grant one-- and we're all selfish jerks who don't want to share.
[No matter how selfless the wish may seem.
Seeing Kerra's startled reaction, Mordred laughed. Kerra's sentiments were unbelievably real, and her words undeniably true.]
I wouldn't blame you if you didn't believe. Who in their right mind would do something like this?
But, I'm surprised you can tell that much. You don't act like a mage... or is this something you learned at that academy of your's?
[Kerra has little frame of reference for that specific word. Not because it's a foreign concept, but because it's meaningless to a warrior monk that sees the fabric of life itself whenever she blinks too hard. She purses her lips, squeezing Mordred's hand before she speaks and nods.]
I am a Jedi. Jedi...are people who can sense the Force. Which...I guess you could think of like mana, but that's not quite accurate.
The Force is an energy that surrounds us all, and comes from us. It binds us together in a luminous sea.
[She raises her free hand, drawing in a deep breath and creating a ball of light.]
It's not magic. Not like a magician or anything. It just...is...something that's a part of all of us. Every single organic thing in the universe is a part of the Force, and people like me are able to sense and manipulate it. And in you, I don't feel the same thing that I do in an ordinary human being. You're undeniably part human, but your essence is different.
You are right that I learned it at the academy, but you aren't trained to be able to sense the Force, you're born with the ability and the academy teaches you control.
I'm more concerned that despite inspecting this problem plant, we haven't gleaned any real information on it. The security doesn't even make it too suspicious either. Do you think this really is an accident? I truly hope it isn't anything nefarious.
Only one within a decade? And they blocked the Outer Rim? [Zohvin is becoming increasingly incredulous, and it's creeping into his voice. Doing all of that in the middle of a war seemed like utter insanity, and if it hadn't been for all of the familiar planets Kerra had named earlier, he would have thought that she came from some other galaxy entirely.
The question does make Zohvin pause, leaving him looking rather nonplussed.] It's the 16th year after the Treaty of Coruscant.
Drinks sound good. I need some alcohol after this.
[Because this is all a little too much for her to handle, mentally. It's like she just got ripped out of her world and thrown into a storybook because lordy, things are tough to process.
And that's... a gun? She thinks it's a gun. Guns are very new to her right now, too, though luckily she has seen those in her world.]
Y-yeah, anyway that sounds good? I'll just follow you because this being on a roof like it's no big deal is sorta new to me.
[A bit of a jump, yes, but she's done more athletic things in her career that she's certain she can make that distance. That and she doesn't want to inconvenience the other woman any more than she has to.]
So that way you can keep your hands free in case things go bad quickly.
[That's the point that his incredulous demeanor starts turning to anger.]
If this is supposed to be a joke, it's in poor taste. That shouldn't even be possible. I'll grant you that these aliens might be using advanced technology to snatch us up, but what you're suggesting is ridiculous.
[Kerra reaches to her belt and fishes out her multitool. Turning it over, she holds it out to him, finger tapping the maker's mark on the device. It's date of manufacture? About when she says it is.]
I'm not messing with you. And is it really any less possible than a couple hundred people, mostly from another galaxy, all showing up out of nowhere in a strange corner of the universe none of us has ever kriffing heard of?
